Specialist programme of Fuel & Gas Logistics and GGS – Dangerous Goods // Hazardous Substances trade fair has a lot to offer
The trade fair duo GGS – Trade Fair for Dangerous Goods // Hazardous Substances and Fuel & Gas Logistics will offer three packed days of comprehensive know-how and a look beyond the horizon from 22 to 24 October 2024 at the Leipzig Exhibition Centre.
In the Open Forum, Action Forum and Speakers’ Corner directly in hall 2, the focus will be on presentations covering a wide range of topics, product information, live demonstrations and very practical solutions in quick succession.
The practical competition “Dangerous goods transport – find the mistakes!”, which will also take place in the exhibition hall, calls for expertise in discovering hidden defects in the dangerous goods loaded onto a lorry, in load securing and in accompanying documents.
At the Meeting Point Dangerous Goods of the Gefahrgutverband Deutschland e.V. in the Congress Centre, experts from a wide range of fields will be providing practical and up-to-date information on all three days of the trade fair. The changes to the regulations on handling dangerous goods that will apply from January 2025 will be discussed on a daily basis. Speakers from Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland and Turkey will present specific regulations on the transport of dangerous goods in their countries.
On 23 October, the DENIOS Hazardous Substances Day will take place for the third time as part of the GGS. The presentation “Hazardous substance management made easy” covers legal obligations, documentation requirements and effectiveness checks, and presents examples of best practice. Other contributions are dedicated to the dangers and accident concepts of lithium batteries, water and hazardous substances legislation and storage bans.
MEW Mittelständische Energiewirtschaft Deutschland e.V. is taking a look into the future of the energy world with the MEW conference “The energy transition – challenges for the energy industry and society” on 22 October. Participants in the conference will be guided through almost the entire spectrum of future energy supply. The focus will be on four central questions: Which new energy carriers will play a role? Is the infrastructure ready for the energy transition? What is the impact on future energy costs? Will the resilience of our energy system be impaired?
On 24 October, the German Chemical Industry Association will offer dangerous goods experts from its member companies and affiliated trade associations an overview of the numerous changes in the international regulations for the transport of dangerous goods that will come into force on 1 January 2025 under the title “Dangerous Goods Regulations 2025 – Outlook and Developments”. A total of 8 speakers will cover a wide range of topics.
When it comes to defossilising the transport sector, the political focus in the EU and Germany is on e-fuels. On 23 October, at HYPOS Dialogue, visitors are invited to work out the potential of Central Germany as a location for e-fuels, as well as the main challenges using the example of aviation, and to jointly define steps and solutions to promote the economic implementation of e-fuels.
Schäfer-Valerio, a law firm specialising in medium-sized energy trading, will be taking part on 23 October with two practical presentations for players in the energy industry. Mr Marcus Schäfer will speak about driver obligations when filling tank facilities and also about the risks of contesting insolvency.
